William D. "Bill" Witthoft, age 69, of Washington, Iowa, died Tuesday, January 14, 2014, at the Washington County Hospital following a two week illness.
Celebration of life services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 18, 2014, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home with Pastor Kelly Allard officiating. Visitation will begin noon Friday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 Friday evening. Interment will take place at a later date. Bill was born April 24, 1944, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Arthur and Martha E. (Wylie) Witthoft. He attended school in Keota, Iowa, and graduated from Washington High School in 1962. Bill was united in marriage to Kay Heisdorffer on May 25, 1990.
Bill worked in the feed business retiring in 2003. Following his retirement he worked seasonal jobs for Black Hawk Soil Service and Syngenta Seeds. He enjoyed camping with his wife and their friends from Keota and Washington. He enjoyed spending time with his family and attending his grandsons' activities, especially their Pedal Tractor Pulls.
He is survived by his wife, Kay Witthoft of Washington, Iowa; daughter, Jennifer Weber and husband Alan of Harper, Iowa; son, Robert Shindelar of Harper, Iowa; daughter, Sarah Witthoft and Curt Janecek of West Chester, Iowa; daughter, Katherine "Kate" Shindelar of Washington, Iowa; and four grandchildren; Jax & Dylan Weber and Stella & Cayla Janecek. He is also survived by his mother, Martha E. Witthoft of Washington, Iowa; brother, James Witthoft and wife Linda of Ainsworth, Iowa; sister, Kathy Witthoft and friend Tom Hartsock of Ainsworth, Iowa; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his father; one brother, Robert Witthoft; and one son, Brian Witthoft.
