Betty F. Carr, age 94, of West Chester, Iowa, died suddenly, Sunday, August 3, 2014, in West Chester.
Celebration of life services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 6, 2014, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home with Pastor Marlene Janssen officiating. Visitation will begin noon Tuesday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Betty was born October 3, 1919, in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Owen and Blanche (Anderson) Grecian. She graduated from Washington High School. Following high school, Betty traveled to California, returned to Des Moines, Iowa, to attended school and work for a short time before moving back to Washington to join her father and brother at the Jewelry Store. On March 7, 1948, Betty was united in marriage to Morton A. Carr.
Along with her father and brother, Betty owned and operated Grecian Jewelry in Washington, Iowa, since 1944. She enjoyed sewing, baking, and gardening. She loved animals, especially her Yorkies.
She is survived by one daughter, Kathi Erickson and husband James of Runnells, Iowa; one grandson, Joseph Shambaugh of Vail, Colorado;sister, Carol Manary and husband James of Iowa City, Iowa; sister, Janet Foster of Englewood, Colorado; three nieces and seven nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Morton in 1994; brother, Gene in 2009; brother-in-law, Norman Foster; sister-in-law, Ferne Carr; and brother-in-law, Orin Carr.
