Bernice Jean Logan, age 82, of Washington, Iowa, died Saturday, January 4, 2014, at the United Presbyterian Home following a lengthy illness.

Celebration of life services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at the United Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Bob Wollenberg officiating. Visitation will begin noon Monday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 4:30 until 7:00 Monday evening. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa. Memorials have been established for the United Presbyterian Church. Bernice was born March 13, 1931, in Johnson County, Iowa, the daughter of James Stephen and Clara May (Holtcamp) Stika. She graduated from high school and later obtained her R.N. Degree from the Mercy School of Nursing in Iowa City, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Robert Helmer Logan on February 9, 1956, in Iowa City, Iowa.

Bernice grew up in Johnson County and has been a resident of Washington all of her married life. She worked as a Registered Nurse at Halcyon House in Washington for nine years and later at the United Presbyterian Home for 16 years until her retirement in 1995.
She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church and a member of the Creative Living Department of Fortnightly.

Bernice is survived by her husband, Robert Logan of Washington, Iowa; daughter Margaret Logan of North Liberty, Iowa; daughter, Kathryn MacCrea and husband Douglas of Ames, Iowa; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one brother-in-law, Bernard Mellecker of Riverside, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Phyllis Mellecker.
