Beatrice "Bea" Johnson, age 92, of Washington, Iowa, passed away Friday, November 10, 2023, at the Halcyon House in Washington.

Celebration of life services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Zickefoose officiating. The family will be present to receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Bea was born July 9, 1931, at her parent's home north of Washington. She was the daughter of Charles W. and Helen (Hunt) Bartholow. Bea attended Young America country school and Washington Community Schools. Her high school education was completed by correspondence when she had three young children. Bea was united in marriage to Dwain D. Johnson on December 31, 1948 at the First Presbyterian Church in Washington.

Bea was a housewife, helped her husband with the farming operation, worked at the Advance Ross Mfg. for ten years, and later gave reflexology treatments for more than 35 years. She was a member of the Reformed Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed her family, working in her flower gardens, and Bible Study group. At age 77 she learned to shoot hand guns, enjoyed target shooting with her .22 and .45 and at the age of 79 she obtained a concealed carry permit. In 2015 she moved to Halcyon House where she enjoyed canasta, word find, coloring and visiting with friends. Bea was a 16 year cancer survivor.

She is survived by one daughter, Cynthia Crossett of Brighton, Iowa; three sons, David (Susan) Johnson of Dahlgren, Illinois; Ben (Pam) Johnson of Winfield, Iowa; and Chester (Kim) Johnson of Washington, Iowa. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Jennifer (Jason) Hunter, Ezekiel (Linda) Johnson, Tim (Cindy) Johnson, Rebecca (Michael) Eldredge, Joan (Russ) Bean, Kristie (David) Nielsen; nine great grandchildren: Isaac, Joshua, Rachel, Kendra, Michaela, Paige, Adam, Holly and Clyde; two great great grandchildren: Hazel and Vivienne; and her brother-in-law, Lloyd (Winnie) Munson of Atlantic, Iowa.

Bea was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 2005; brother, Charles Bartholow Jr in 2015 and his wife Pat in 2012; brother, Bernard Bartholow in 2018 and his wife Judy in 2017; brother-in-law, Jerry Johnson in 2019 and his wife Dottie in 2020; and one grandson, Michael Ben Johnson in 1990.
