Athena "Tina" Drain, age 93, of Washington, Iowa, formerly of Sioux City, died Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at the United Presbyterian Home following a short illness.

Interment will talke place Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City, Iowa. The Jones & Eden Funeral Home of Washington, Iowa, is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be sent for Tina's family through the web at www.jonesfh.com .

Athena was born July 13, 1920, in Sioux City, Iowa, the daughter of George and Gladys (Shoemaker) Peterson. She attended school in Sioux City and graduated from Sioux City Central High School. Athena was united in marriage to Robert H. Drain on December 6, 1942, in Sioux City, Iowa.

Athena enjoyed reading books, playing cards, playing Solitaire, BINGO, attending Senior Centers and playing Penny Slots. She enjoyed traveling, especially her trips to Hawaii and the bus trips to Branson. During the Christmas season, Athena enjoyed baking greek doughnuts, thumbprint cookies and other greek pastries.

Athena is survived by son, Robert Drain and wife Kathi of Waukesha, WI; son, Ted Drain of Washington, Iowa; 6 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; one brother, George Peterson and one sister, Violet Bard.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert in 1993, one daughter, Vikki in 2013; daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Drain in 2009 and two sisters, Mary and Dorothy.
