Obituary

Ashlee Sue Bose was born on February 11, 2007, in Iowa City, Iowa, the beloved daughter of Dorrie Deich and Mike Bose, and younger sister of Jenna Bose, with whom she shared a special bond. She passed away on April 22, 2026, at the age of 19. Ashlee graduated from Washington High School in 2025 and was employed at Riverside Casino, where she worked as a table games dealer.

During her years at Washington High School, Ashlee was active in many activities that reflected her creativity, confidence, and spirit. She was a member of the Color Guard with the Washington High School Marching Band, competed in Speech Contest, and was involved in the Theater Department, appearing in several high school plays. In her younger years, Ashlee also loved attending Girl Scout Camp, where she made memories that stayed with her.

Ashlee shared a special love of storm chasing with her father. She completed her storm spotter training at just 12 years old and earned her amateur radio license at age 16. She became skilled at reading radar and had a natural instinct for understanding the weather. Storm chasing became more than a hobby; it was a bond she shared with her dad and a reflection of her adventurous and curious spirit.

Ashlee also faced a long and painful struggle with depression. For several years, she fought a battle that was often unseen by others, carrying more than anyone so young should have had to bear. On April 22, she lost that battle. Her family shares this not to define her life by her struggle, but to honor the truth of what she endured and to remember her with compassion, honesty, and love.

Ashlee will be deeply missed by her parents, Dorrie Deich and Mike Bose of Washington, Iowa; her sister, Jenna Bose of Washington, Iowa; her maternal grandparents, Bill and Riley Deich of Grimes, Iowa; her paternal grandmother, Nancy Bose of Lenox, Iowa; her uncle, Brad Deich and his wife Sara of Clive, Iowa; her uncle, Kyle Deich of Grimes, Iowa; her aunt, Mendy Abell and her husband Scott of Cromwell, Iowa; her aunt, Marla McFarland and her husband Marv of Afton, Iowa; and several cousins, many friends, and coworkers.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Eldon Bose.

Ashlee’s life was filled with creativity, courage, curiosity, and love. Those who knew her will remember her adventurous heart, her many talents, and the special light she brought into the lives of her family and friends. Her life was far more than her struggle, and she will be loved and remembered always.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 1, 2026, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home with Pastor Jon Rees officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 30, 2026, also at the funeral home. A general memorial has been established.
