Anna Hysell, age 96, of Washington, Iowa, passed away Sunday, October 22, 2017, at the Halcyon House in Washington.

A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 26, 2017,at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. Thursday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home. Interment will be held at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Anna was born August 1, 1921, in Chicago, Illinois. She graduated from Washington High School in 1940. Anna was united in marriage to Delbert "Truman" Hysell on April 27, 1946, in Washington, Iowa.

Anna resided in Melbourne Beach, Florida for nine years, but has spent most of her life in Washington, Iowa. She worked as a secretary for George Breitenbach Real Estate, the Washington Chamber of Commerce and the United Methodist Church in Washington. Anna was a member of the VFW Auxillary, United Methodist Women, Fortnightly Club and the Rainbow Girls.

She is survived by her daughter, Trudy Gurnsey and husband Don of Urbandale, IA; daughter, Marcia Jaspering and husband Don of Ames, IA; and son, Larry Hysell and wife Maria of Melbourne Beach, FL; five grandchildren: Tim Jaspering, Matt Gurnsey, Ben Gurnsey, Shelley Jaspering and Heidi Braunstein; and three great-granddaughters: Isabella Jaspering and Arya and Grace Gurnsey.

She was preceded in death by parents, Harvey and Ruth Waggoner and her husband, Truman.
