Anna J. Batterson, age 95, of Washington died Sunday, April 17, 2011 at the United Presbyterian Home in Washington following a short illness.

Celebration of life services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington with Pastor Julie Poulsen officiating. Visitation will begin 9:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Anna was born March 1, 1916 in Carbon, Iowa the daughter of Herman W. and Elnora (Knaack) Marion. She attended school in Wapello, Iowa. Anna was united in marriage to Elmer L. "Butch" Batterson on May 25, 1939 in Washington, Iowa. Anna lived all of her adult life in Washington, Iowa. Anna was a homemaker and worked for McCleery Cumming Company for a few years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church. She enjoyed her family, quilting, jigsaw puzzles and doing word searches.

Anna is survived by her daughter, Sandy Burns of Washington; her grandchildren, Terri Miller and fiancé Buddy Brown of Washington; Toni Hunter and husband Dave of Washington; great grandchildren, Jessi Janecek, Ryan Burns, Jacob Brown, Alex Hunter and Emily Stonebraker; and her great-great grandchildren, Joe Janecek, Aydin Flowers, Keegan Burns and Jayden Stonebraker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elmer in 1986; one brother, Garland Marion; one sister, Ivy Neff; and her son-in-law, Dick Burns.
