Elenor A. McVey, age 84, of Wayland, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at the Parkview Home in Wayland. Celebration of life services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington with Pastor Elaine Vass officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Interment will take place at Crawfordsville Cemetery. A memorial has been established for Olds United Church of Christ. Online condolences may be sent for Elenor’s family through the web at www.jonesfh.com Elenor was born September 6, 1933 in Ft. Madison, Iowa, the daughter of Jessie Grace Older. She graduated from Ft. Madison High School in 1951 and attended Northeast Missouri State Teachers College in Kirksville, Missouri. Elenor was united in marriage to Earl J. McVey on December 21, 1952 in Ft. Madison. Elenor lived most of her married life in the Crawfordsville area and moved to Wayland 9 years ago. She and Earl owned and operated the Crawfordsville Locker from 1972-1991. She was also a cook for the WACO Elementary School and for L.J. Roth Reconstruction. Elenor was a member of the United Church of Christ in Olds where she was active in the women’s groups. Most of her life was centered around her family. She is survived by her children: Kirk McVey of Wayland, IA; Lewis McVey and wife Janice of Sperry, IA; Tom McVey of Crawfordsville, IA; Mary McVey of Davenport, IA; Kelly McVey and wife Kellay of Mt. Pleasant, IA; and Sara Rex and husband Sterling of Wayland, IA; 18 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters-in-law: Arnette Bush and Joyce Holbrook, both of Waterloo, IA. Elenor was preceded in death by her mother; her husband in 1991; and her sister-in-law, Pauline McCarty.
