Dawn Messenger, age 75, of Brighton, Iowa, passed away Monday, April 22, 2019 at the University of Iowa Hospital following a brief illness.
Celebration of life services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 26, 2019 at Victory Fellowship Church in Brighton with Rev. Larry Black officiating. A general memorial has been established. Online condolences may be sent for Dawn's family through the web at

Dawn was born July 1, 1943 in Clover, New York, the daughter of Marvin and Mildred (Coons) Searle. She attended school in New York. Dawn was united in marriage to Don Marvin Warner. She later married David Messenger on January 20, 1983.
Dawn had resided in Brighton since 1986. She worked as a CNA at the Washington Care Center and Parkview Home in Wayland. Dawn was a member of Victory Fellowship Church in Brighton and enjoyed craft work, crocheting and playing bingo.
She is survived by her husband, David Messenger of Brighton, IA; children: Marvin James Warner and wife Bev of Mayfield, NY; Darlene Wilusz and husband Ted of Valparaiso, IN; Jolene Erdman and husband Doug of Brighton, IA; and Diane Brown and husband Traci of Fowler, IN; 18 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Sally La Port and husband Stan of Horse Cave, KY; and brother, Alan Coons of Horse Cave, KY.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Renee Ibbotson; brothers, David and Donald Coons; and sisters, Doris La Porte and Clara Spencer.
