Barbara Ann “Barb” Turner, age 81, of Washington, Iowa, passed away Thursday, February 16, 2017 at the Washington County Hospital following a brief illness. Celebration of life services will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 20, 2017 at the First Christian Church in Washington with Pastor Colton Clay and Eva Bickhart officiating. Calling hours will begin 11:00 a.m. Sunday, February 19, 2017 at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:30 until 7:00 p.m. Interment will be held at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Barb was born June 28, 1935 in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Alvie and Laura (Snook) Harland. She graduated from Washington High School in 1953. Barb was united in marriage to John Clinton Turner on January 13, 1954 in Washington, Iowa. Barb lived in Hawaii for a short time, but has been a resident of Washington County for most of her life. She was a Nurse’s Aide at the Washington County Hospital for 14 years and a secretary for the Department of Transportation for 16 years. Barb was a former member of Berean Fellowship and a current member of the First Christian Church. She enjoyed traveling, knitting, painting, playing the piano and square dancing. She is survived by her daughter, Cathy Dobbins and husband Allen of Sigourney, IA; son, Steven Turner and wife Deb of Washington, IA; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; brother, Earl Malloy of Keota, IA; and brother, Duane Malloy of Alabama. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2009; one son, John Alvin Turner in 1978; one infant daughter in 1955; and 8 brothers and sisters.
