Obituary

Joan M. Hoyle, age 81, of Washington, died Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at the United Presbyterian Home.

A private celebration of Joan's life will be held at a later time. Interment will take place at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington at a later date. Memorials have been established for the Alzheimer's Association or for a project in memory of Joan at the United Presbyterian Home. Joan was born June 26, 1933 in Broken Bow, Nebraska, the daughter of Floyd William and Ona Myrtle (Robertson) Prescott. She attended school in Nebraska and graduated from Broken Bow High School in 1951. Joan was united in marriage to Gerald D. Hoyle on December 20, 1954 in Washington, Iowa.

Joan was a homemaker and assisted her husband with the farm operation. Prior to her marriage to Gerald, she worked at Duncan's Department Store. Joan also worked for Hy-Vee Food Store for ten years prior to her retirement. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, spending time with her family and annual fishing trips to Minnesota and Canada.
Joan is survived by her son, Jeff Hoyle and wife Carol of Washington, Iowa; daughter, Jeri Crile and husband Mark of Washington, Iowa; son, Joel Hoyle and wife Kara of Winthrop, Iowa; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; sister, Dona Watson of Washington, Iowa; sister, Janet Janecek and husband George of Washington, Iowa; brother, Rodney Prescott of Oklahoma; and sister, Judy Janecek and husband Wayne of Washington, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in September 2014 and her brother-in-law, Raymond Watson, Jr.
