Kevin Wade McFarland, age 52, of rural Riverside, Iowa, died Thursday, October 06, 2016, at the University of Iowa Hospital following a sudden illness.

Mass of the Resurrection will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 10, 2016, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Richmond, Iowa, with Fr. David Brownfield officiating. Calling hours will begin 11:00 a.m. Sunday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 Sunday evening. Interment will take place at the Oregon Township Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a general memorial has been established. Kevin was born May 1, 1964, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Billy and Bonnie (Norenberg) McFarland. He graduated from Highland High School in 1982. On December 31, 1983, Kevin was united in marriage to Dina Meyer in Richmond, Iowa.

Kevin was a life resident of Washington County. He worked as an Environmental Technician at the University of Iowa. He previously owned and operated McFarland Heating and Air until 2013. Kevin enjoyed the outdoors where he spent a lot of time fishing and gardening. He enjoyed antiques and going for Sunday car rides. Family was the focus of Kevin's life and he cherished the time spent with them.

He is survived by his wife Dina McFarland of Riverside, Iowa; daughter, Amber Rocha and husband Gavino of West Liberty, Iowa; son, Tyler McFarland of Riverside, Iowa; daughter, Breanna McFarland of Davenport, Iowa; three grandchildren: Quintyn, Addysyn and Brynlyn Rocha; brother, Bruce McFarland of Ainsworth, Iowa; brother, Jeff McFarland and wife Tracy of Fairhope, Alabama; sister, Julie Harland and husband Jeff of Kalona, Iowa; sister, Stefanie Swartzendruber and husband Chris of Kalona, Iowa; many nieces and nephews and his mother and father-in-law, Bill and Marla Meyer of Riverside, Iowa.

Kevin was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Shari Butler; and an infant brother, Jamie.
